A quiet corner of Venice, away from the crowds. A narrow canal runs between houses in ochre, cream and terracotta, with dark green shutters and window boxes full of red flowers. A small brick bridge crosses the water, a boat waits at the wall and a red and white mooring pole stands in the foreground. The water itself is made of tiny fragments of blue glass, so it sparkles like the real thing.
Every colour is its own piece of glass. Made with the glass fusion technique: sheets of coloured Murano glass are cut by hand, composed piece by piece and fused in the kiln into a single panel, then fitted with its clock movement. Small glass tiles mark the hours. The outlines are drawn by hand and the smallest details are added grain by grain, so they stay raised on the surface.
Original Murano glass, made entirely by hand in Italy by master glassmakers: no two clocks are ever the same. A work of art that keeps time.
