Gufram Steam Table coffee table in polyurethane

The Gufram Steam Table appears as if it has emerged from the pages of a dream. Conceived by Studio Job, it is a designer coffee table by Gufram that defies conventional logic: a glazed ceramic pot emits a plume of vapor that seems to rise, twist, and solidify, forming the tabletop itself. This whimsical transformation of smoke into substance is not merely visual play; it is a radical commentary on perception, materiality, and the capacity of design to elevate the everyday into the extraordinary. Steam Table is a theatrical furnishing that demonstrates how imagination can be crystallized into form without losing its magic.

Material Innovation

The Steam Table combines unexpected materials to create a unique contrast. The pot is rendered in ceramic, grounding the piece in artisanal tradition, while the rising steam is sculpted from soft polyurethane, a material that allows for flexibility, durability, and an uncanny ability to imitate the ephemeral. Finished with Gufram’s meticulous craftsmanship, the table achieves a perfect balance of illusion and function. The tactile softness of the polyurethane contrasts with the solidity of the ceramic, embodying Gufram’s philosophy: objects that appear one way but reveal their essence in unexpected ways. This paradox lies at the core of radical design.

A Theatrical Object

Far more than a simple furnishing, the modern artistic table serves as a centerpiece capable of animating any space. Its playful narrative makes it ideal for eclectic homes, avant-garde hospitality projects, or gallery-like interiors. Steam Table naturally dialogues with other designer coffee table by Gufram icons, or can be juxtaposed with the experimental works of Guido Drocco & Franco Mello x Gufram. It also pairs harmoniously with contemporary eclectic collections like the Bocca collection or any designer seating by Gufram, enriching interiors with layers of fantasy and irony. Wherever it is placed, the Steam Table invites storytelling and transforms the act of furnishing into a cultural performance.

Radical Poetry in Form

The Studio Job table is a poetic reinterpretation of everyday elements. A pot and a wisp of steam, usually fleeting and humble, are elevated into a monumental piece of radical Italian design. Both sculptural and functional, it demonstrates Gufram’s ability to fuse humor, provocation, and craftsmanship into a single object. To own the Gufram Steam Table is to embrace a collectible artwork that blurs the boundaries between art and design, imagination and utility. It remains one of the most compelling expressions of radical creativity, turning the ordinary into something magical and unforgettable.
